Amsterdam, NL – May 6th, 2025
On March 30th, the music collective Jam With Humans relaunched its flagship show Humans And Friends at The Parlour Amsterdam—featuring live, avant-garde and inclusive music, open audience participation, and spontaneous creation and conversation—all in a format that defies traditional performance norms.
Every live show is a shared experience that changes every week—with exciting new music you won’t see anywhere else.
A Show Where It All Comes Together
After years of experimenting with different formats, Jam With Humans has consolidated the best of them into the rebooted Humans And Friends—a single, unpredictable Sunday night gathering featuring audience-favourite segments such as live composition, game-shows, student showcases and interviews to musicians currently touring in the Netherlands.
“At some point we thought ‘Wait a minute, this should all be one show”, says Jam With Humans founder Daniel Matias Ferrer. “We are going to play music for you, sometimes we’ll have a guest… We’ll have chats about creating music and surviving this industry, and you can bring an instrument and play with us (if you’d like to do so).”
The show evolves constantly, ensuring a unique experience every night—from musical improv games and fresh compositions to conversations with touring artists. As Daniel puts it: “You’ll never see the same show twice.”
Come and play
Keeping in line with the community-driven ethos of Jam With Humans, every Humans And Friends show is a collaboration between performers and audience members. Attendees are invited to bring instruments and join on stage during parts of the show, and conversations are led with the whole room, making each event a truly interactive experience—not a traditional concert.
“There will always be a moment where the audience can jump in. That’s the point,” says Daniel. “You’re not just watching—you’re making the night happen with us.”
Everyone is welcome at the Parlour
Jam With Humans’s belief in maintaining low fences around contemporary music, for both musicians and audiences, extends to how they market this show. For Humans And Friends shows at the Parlour Amsterdam, there are no tickets and no barriers—just walk in, grab a seat, and be part of the night. Whether you’re a professional musician, a music student, a curious listener, or just passing by, you’re welcome to sit, listen and participate. The shows operate on a pay-what-you-want basis; if you can contribute to support their work, please do. However, if your financial situation doesn’t allow for a contribution, you’re still enthusiastically welcome to attend.
Humans And Friends is performed in perfect harmony with the Parlour Amsterdam, sharing their values of “music, community, empathy” prominently displayed at the entrance. In keeping with the collective’s spirit of collaboration and transdisciplinary creativity, Humans And Friends is extended past the stage and onto the collective’s Tiny Gallery, which features a single artwork by a local artist that doubles as the show’s poster. These limited editions (numbered and signed) are available for purchase, with new artists commissioned for new shows.
