About

We  are a musical collective with a mission: to propose an approach to the creation of music based on individual expression and collective share of knowledge and experiences.

In summary, we teach and perform avant-garde and inclusive music.

What do we mean by avant-garde music?

At Jam With Humans, we attempt to create music that is inherently disruptive, using an inquisitive, experimental and communal approach.

We consider music first and foremost to be a vehicle for expression and communication. As such, the impact of our music in our audiences is fed back into our creative process, since it informs us of how well we succeeded at expressing ourselves.

We also acknowledge that music is a reflection of the social, economical and political environment of its time, and we use that knowledge when creating and teaching music.

Even if sometimes we might say that we attempt to “discover new music”, we keep in mind that all music exists in the context of what has been created before. As such, we strive to learn about a wide range of music, from all cultures and eras.

What do we mean by inclusive?

Audiences must be taken in consideration and respected when performing music – we ask for and listen to feedback, seek ways to reach a diversity of people with our music, and are considerate of the audience’s time.

Every human is able to create music. We seek to enabling humans to be comfortable in expressing themselves through music.

There is no inherent universal musical language or system, and we attempt to educate ourselves in all the ways that humans organised sounds in order to express themselves, while attempting to ignore any hegemony of certain languages and systems.
